Zimbabwe national Chamber of Commerce says it will put in place initiatives and campaigns to make sure that its members provide Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency with requisite data that will enable it to produce realistic statistics.

ZNCC deputy president Mr Davison Norupiri told delegates to a breakfast meeting organised by Zimstats that companies should adopt a positive approach towards providing data to the national statistical board as the nation enters a new era that demands collective participation and determination.

"As captains of industry we are going to embark on an awareness campaign towards sensitising the industrial players on the importance of completing company data questionnaires in order to improve the response rate and timeous production of economic statistics," he said.

Mr Norupiri said awareness information would be disseminated through the organisation's newsletter because data is a fundamental element in the day to day running of business.

Speaking at the same event, Zimstats director general Mr Mutasa Dzinotizeyi said efforts to gather information in the past had been hindered by industry's unwillingness to co-operate.
