United World College Scholarships
Deadline: 2 March 2018

UWC Zimbabwe is accepting applications for places at United World College schools for entry in September 2018 and January 2019 (Waterford). This year, places are available for Zimbabwean students at UWC Mahindra (India), UWC Changshu (China), UWC Maastricht (the Netherlands), UWC Phuket (Thailand), Waterford kaMhlaba (Swaziland), UWC Robert Bosch (Germany), UWC Dilijan (Armenia), and UWC USA (New Mexico, USA).

The United World Colleges are a movement of Sixth Form colleges that bring together young people from all backgrounds to engage with the possibility of creating social change through courageous action, personal example and selfless leadership. Students live together and engage in a wide variety of community service and creative activities, while completing a rigorous academic programme. The colleges follow the two-year International Baccalaureate curriculum, a widely-respected alternative to A-Level, which can be used for university entrance to both Zimbabwean and international institutions.

Applications to UWC are adjudicated on a need-blind basis; the Committee does not consider the candidate’s financial status during the application process. Once the places have been awarded, scholarships will be determined according to the demonstrated need of the selected students. Most students will pay the equivalent of what they would have paid for Sixth Form in Zimbabwe.

Students should not feel discouraged from applying for financial reasons. UWC will meet all demonstrated need.

To apply, students need to submit the following:
A copy of the O-level (ZimSec or IGCSE) results transcript; A cover letter, written by the candidate, detailing the candidate's motivation for applying to UWC; The candidate's biographical information (details about the candidate's extra-curricular activities and achievements, as well as family history and context); Contact details for the candidate. Most importantly, an email address and phone number where the candidate can be reached immediately.

Applications can be delivered/mailed to:
UWC Zimbabwe National Committee
38 Broadlands Road, P O Box EH 49
Emerald Hill, Harare
Or emailed to: uwczimbabwetrust@gmail.com

All application material must be received by Friday 2nd March 2018 to be considered.
Interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held in early March. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. No documentation will be returned. No further correspondence will be entered into.
